Chevy CamaroThe North American International Show is always an exciting time for us. What with all of the new cars that have been talked about for months and now being revealed we couldn’t help but get excited. One of the first cars to be unveiled that we fell in love with right away was the new Dodge Challenger. It was in a bright red color that seemed so perfect for it we couldn’t help but stare.

2009 Chevy CamaroThe new 2009 Chevy Camaro has been seen at some of the world’s most famous auto show. Even a handful of chosen people have gotten the lucky chance to sit behind the wheel and take it for the ultimate test drive. Now we have a tip that Chevy has taken it out on the roads in Melbourne, Australia for a much needed test drive.

It might at first seem odd to find the Camaro being tested in Australia, but that is because GM’s Australian arm, Holden, is leading the development work on the Camaro. The new Camaro is based on GM’s global rear-drive architecture, which also underpin’s Holden’s VE Commodore range of cars.

2009 CamaroWe are all excited to see the official 2009 Camaro up close and in person – but we never thought that anyone would actually get emotionally attached to it. It seems though that Bob Lutz – GM’s Vice chairman – was so excited to see the first fully finished prototype that he literally “ran over to it, and hugged it”.

“I have the photo to prove it — but of course we can’t show it to you just yet,” Lutz said. “Seeing his beloved Camaro as a real car…in near-final metal, glass, rubber and plastic…transformed from a visionary dream into a highly drivable reality…well, it was almost too much for him,” Lutz said of Welburn.
